Commitment No. 22
Apprentices actively shape workplace safety.

Occupational safety is a central element of Griesser’s corporate responsibility. For us, safety is not merely a regulation, but a lived attitude.

Together with SUVA (Swiss National Accident Insurance Fund), we reviewed existing guidelines and analysed their applicability in everyday work. The aim was not only to assess safety requirements theoretically, but to reflect on them in a practical context and further develop them.

Safety from the apprentices’ perspective

For the workshop, apprentices from various professions – logistics, commercial administration, automation, IT (platform development), polymechanics, design as well as solar shading and shutter technology – were brought together. Working in interdisciplinary groups, they analysed specific work situations and addressed key questions:

  • When do I say “Stop”?
  • How do I act in situations of uncertainty?
  • How do I take responsibility for myself and others?
  • How do I recognise hazards at an early stage?

This process resulted in clear principles for daily work – from the active use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to mutual responsibility within the team.

Sustainable occupational safety starts in everyday practice

The outcome was impressive: SUVA was highly impressed by the apprentices’ strong ability to reflect and their responsible approach to workplace safety.

The initiative makes a sustainable contribution to occupational safety:

  • Early strengthening of safety awareness
  • Active promotion of personal responsibility
  • Practical integration of protective measures
  • Concrete application of safety rules by apprentices

Sustainable safety arises where knowledge, attitude and action interact. By actively involving our apprentices, occupational safety becomes effective in the long term – and part of our lived corporate culture.

We sincerely thank SUVA for the trust placed in us and for the valuable collaboration. The open exchange and constructive input have made a significant contribution to viewing workplace safety from a new perspective and further developing it.

We look forward to continuing this partnership and to further strengthening sustainable standards in occupational safety together.
