What can be retrofitted.
Whether retrofitting is possible depends on the type of awning, the condition of the mechanism and the space available in the awning box. In many cases, the hand crank can be replaced with a suitable tubular motor without having to replace the entire awning. You can also choose your preferred control system: a simple switch, a wireless hand-held transmitter, an app or a fully automatic weather station with sun and wind sensors.
Integration into a smart home is also possible – from operation via a voice assistant to integration into building systems such as KNX. Our awning service will assess on site what is practical and cost-effective for your system, and will give you an honest assessment of when replacement is the better option.

No. As long as the frame and mechanism are intact, it is usually sufficient simply to fit a motor and a control unit. It is only in the case of very old or damaged awnings that replacement may be more cost-effective – we’ll let you know honestly once we’ve assessed them.
