Smart sun protection control
Awnings that react to the sun and the weather.
Sensors automatically move your awnings into the correct position – at just the right moment, even when nobody is there.
Smart sun protection means that your awnings react automatically to the sun, wind and weather: They shade the façade before the rooms start to heat up and retract in good time before a storm causes damage – controllable via an app, a schedule or a voice assistant. Griesser awnings can be controlled smartly and, in many cases, retrofitted. Swiss quality since 1882.
What automatic systems do for you.
Four reasons why smart sun protection pays off in everyday life.
Automatic heat protection
The sun sensor shades the façade before the rooms start to heat up – even during the day when you’re away.
Protection against storm damage
The wind sensor retracts awnings and screens in good time, preventing costly storm damage.
Simulating occupancy
Blinds that move automatically make the house look lived-in – helping to deter burglars.
Convenience via app and voice control
Open, close, activate scenarios – all from the comfort of your sofa, whilst out and about, or via voice command.
The sensors,
that think for you.
This is how smart sun protection works. Sensors measure sunlight, wind and weather conditions and control the blinds automatically. Instead of operating each blind individually, pre-set scenarios combine several actions: ‘Summer Day’ shades the south-facing façade, ‘Cinema’ darkens the living room, ‘I’m Leaving’ moves everything into the protected position.
These sensors ensure that the sun protection always reacts at just the right moment.

Fitting new motors to existing awnings? We’ll look into it.
- Motorisation can often be retrofitted
- Sensors and scenarios as required
- Integration into your smart home
Answers to your questions
All about smart sun protection
Can I retrofit existing awnings with an automatic system?
Can I retrofit existing awnings with an automatic system?
In many cases, yes. Manually operated blinds can often be converted to motorised operation and then controlled via an app and sensors. An on-site assessment will determine whether this is possible with your model.
Which sensors are worth using?
Which sensors are worth using?
The most important sensors are the sun and wind sensors: one provides automatic heat protection, whilst the other protects against storm damage. Rain and temperature sensors can be added as required.
Can the sun blinds be controlled by voice?
Can the sun blinds be controlled by voice?
Yes. Motorised Griesser awnings can be integrated into standard smart home systems and can also be controlled via a voice assistant.
What are the specific benefits of automation?
What are the specific benefits of automation?
It automatically provides shade before rooms start to heat up, protects your blinds in stormy weather and simulates occupancy when you’re away – without you having to think about it.
Can awnings be integrated into a building system such as KNX?
Can awnings be integrated into a building system such as KNX?
Yes. Motorised awnings can be integrated into building control systems such as KNX, where they can be conveniently controlled using timetables, scenes and centralised functions.
How much does smart sun protection cost?
How much does smart sun protection cost?
That depends on the motorisation, sensors and control system. A basic motorisation system is cheaper than a fully automatic system with a weather station. We will provide a binding quotation following a site survey.
