In Thiene, Italy, architecture and nature merge into a harmonious unity. The “Casa Bosco” project – a residential house combined with the extension of Carlo Caretta’s architectural office – sets new standards in the use of daylight. Thanks to the precise light guidance of Metalunic® metal venetian blinds, a living and working space is created that brings the outdoors inside.
The “Casa Bosco” project is far more than just a building; it is a testing ground for modern construction methods. The aim of the planning was to incorporate the site’s centuries-old trees as a driving force in the design. The challenge was to flood the rooms with natural light without sacrificing privacy or risking glare at the workstations.
Metalunic®: The perfect symbiosis of aesthetics and function
To meet the high requirements for sun and glare protection, the Metalunic® system was chosen. The robust, kink-resistant slats with their clear lines blend seamlessly into the modern architecture and emphasize the purist character of the facade. A particular focus was on the gradual control of incident light. Carlo Caretta emphasizes the efficiency of the system: “Venetian blinds are most efficient when it comes to gradually modulating direct sunlight and directing it deep into the rooms without closing off the view to the outside.”
Lighting comfort without compromise
The precise tilting of the Metalunic® slats breaks up harsh, direct sunlight and reflects it deep into the room as soft, diffuse light. This not only ensures a pleasant indoor climate and optimal privacy but also significantly reduces the need for artificial lighting. In this way, “Casa Bosco” becomes a sanctuary that harnesses the power of nature while offering the highest level of living and working comfort.
