Griesser Founder
Anton Griesser bought a mill workshop in Aadorf and settled there with his wife, Marie Meier, as a young independent craftsman. Thanks to his inexhaustible initiative, shutters, which were virtually unknown at first, found more and more outlets, and not only in Switzerland.

1920
Opening in Zurich
The first sales and assembly companies were established in Switzerland. The Zurich branch in 1920, the Basel and Lausanne branches in 1931, the Bern branch in 1938 and the Geneva branch in 1943.
1924
Subsidiary in Italy
With its own factory, the subsidiary ‘Manifattura di Persiane Avvolgibili, Camerlata’ was established in Camerlata-Como, Italy.

1928
Subsidiary in France
The ‘Manufacture de stores roulants Griesser et Cie’ is founded in Nice, France, with its own factory. Internally, the subsidiary is called ‘Griesser France’.
1949
First slat blind
The patented ‘Solomatic’ external slat blinds were launched for the first time. This product features a single control unit for lowering, raising and tilting the slats.
1955
Hard hit
During the night of 29-30 March, a serious fire destroyed a large part of the production facilities in Aadorf. Thanks to the great help of suppliers, the population of Aadorf and competitors, production was able to resume a few days after the fire.
1975
Purchase Multronic Zürich AG
Griesser takes over Multronic Zürich AG (now Griesser Electronic AG) in Dübendorf. The company is responsible for the development and production of blind controls and information and transmission systems.

Innovation Award to Rolpac
Griesser wins an innovation prize at the Batimat international building trade fair in Paris for the invention of the folding roller blind ‘Rolpac’.

1995
Installation of powder coating
A state-of-the-art powder coating plant with a highly flexible colour change system is used. As a result, blinds and shutters can be multi-coloured and efficient.

2001
Blind production in Aadorf
An awning production hall is under construction at the factory in Aadorf (Switzerland). The in-house production of awning fabrics will enable efficient production. The aim is to reduce delivery times for awning products.

2005
A modern innovation centre
The production rooms have been converted into modern lofts. The innovation centre houses the innovation team for blinds and shutters and the control team of Griesser Electronic AG.

2006
Thurgauer Apfel' incentive prize
Griesser was chosen by an independent jury as the winner of the Thurgauer Apfel (Thurgauer Prize). The prize is awarded for outstanding entrepreneurial achievements that go beyond the canton’s borders.

2007
Strip coating and Co2 reduction
5 million was invested in the new pre-painting plant. This plasma plant, the only one of its kind in the world, is used to paint aluminium foils. This investment will not only speed up production by a factor of four, but will also help protect the environment by eliminating hexavalent chromium in the cleaning process.

Subsidiary in Spain
The subsidiary ‘Griesser S.L. Persians y Estores’ is based in La Pobla de Claramunt / Barcelona (Spain).
2008
Headquarters refurbishment and reduction of CO2 emissions
Griesser’s headquarters building will be renovated and upgraded in terms of technology and energy efficiency. A special night ventilation and cooling system, combined with state-of-the-art louvred blinds, will ensure high energy efficiency and make an important contribution to environmental protection.

2009
Griesser AG wins SME Award 2009
PLR. Les Libéraux-Radicaux regularly award the Prix PME, this year to a company that is particularly committed to energy efficiency and the environment.
It is not only from rising energy prices that entrepreneurs have become increasingly aware of the need to invest in cutting-edge environmental and energy technologies. Today the rule is: if you want to be economically successful, you cannot afford to ignore ecology. The FDP.Thurgau is convinced that it is possible to create better environmental conditions without holding back economic prosperity. That is why this year’s SME award is aimed at companies that have made a convincing commitment to energy efficiency and the environment.
The jury, chaired by Dr. Wolfgang Maute and consisting of representatives from the Thurgau business community and the leadership of the Thurgau FDP party, was unanimous in awarding this year’s SME prize to Griesser AG in Aadorf.
For Griesser, innovation and quality are core values. For example, in the field of energy efficiency, from the building envelope to the production processes and the product itself. And this is what also convinced the jury.

2011
Event Centre for Griesser AG
In January 2011, Griesser AG opened its event centre in Aadorf. The new event centre is both a showroom and a training centre and is used for internal and external training courses on the subject of sun protection. The event centre can accommodate up to 140 people.

2012
Acquisition of A.S.T.
Griesser took over A.S.T – Alu-System-Technik (now Griesser Austria GmbH), Europe’s leading expert in aluminium swing and sliding shutters, with a factory in Nenzing (Austria).

Innovation Award to Metalunic Sinus
Griesser received the innovation award for the Metalunic Sinus slat blind at the Equip’Baie international trade fair in Paris.

Griesser wins the innovation prize at the Equip’Baie international trade fair in Paris with its folding scissor shop.

Griesser has once again won the Golden Phoenix at the Swiss Architects’ Darling Awards 2020. After winning the sun and weather protection category at the first edition of the award in 2018, Griesser won the Golden Phoenix again this year. The company convinced on all fronts.

2021
Launch of a new brand image - inspired by the sun.

As of 20 January 2021, Griesser will sport its new logo and brand. This marks the beginning of a new era for Griesser. Griesser’s future is ambitious and resource-conscious. With its new visual identity, Griesser presents itself throughout Europe in a more sustainable, authentic and emotional way. The modernised logo has been reduced to its essential elements. The new corporate colour, a sunny green, is intended to be above all environmentally conscious and future-oriented.

Expanding production in Aadorf
Griesser AG is investing in its headquarters by replacing an old hall with a new building. The new building will enable more efficient production, in particular thanks to a new powder coating plant.

June 2021
New customer centre in Lyon
After a year of work, Griesser is able to open a new customer centre in Lyon (F).

August 2021
The kick-off for a climate-friendly fleet
Griesser has set an important sustainability goal: by 2030, all 400 of the company’s vehicles will be equipped with zero-emission electric motors.

2022
140 years: Griesser celebrates its anniversary
In 2022, the company celebrated its 140th anniversary. To mark the occasion, employees had the opportunity to discover Griesser’s history through stories. The anniversary was celebrated in particular at the Griesser party in Aadorf.

2024
Griesser inaugurates its new sustainable building at the Nenzing site
Following the start of construction in July 2023, the innovative building was completed after approximately one year of work. Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art technology, Nenzing’s energy needs are largely covered by self-generated electricity.
